A key element in successful regional economic development is to demonstrate momentum in creating and retaining jobs and investment. After several years of quietly putting a number of projects in place, the City of Toledo wanted to step up its visibility by showcasing its success stories.
When the Mayor called upon Funk Luetke Skunda to accomplish this goal, the firm created “Toledo Works.” The branding initiative was designed to create a sense of awareness and energy for the city’s economic development efforts – and position Toledo among key outside audiences as viable location for investment.
The message platform was based on the quality of the area’s skilled work force – which had drawn praise from all three U.S. auto makers, national publications, and private and government sector organizations. FLS brought partners from labor, media and business together to fund a web presence, television and outdoor public service advertising, and press outreach.
