Plastic Technologies - Green Bottle
Plastic Technologies, Inc. (PTI) is recognized worldwide as a leading supplier of proprietary technology and specialty manufacturing services to the plastic packaging industry. PTI technology was the first to gain approval to produce food-grade plastic bottles made from totally recycled material.
FLS was retained to create a national platform for PTI to market the food-grade recycled plastic technology, as well as promote awareness and interest in recycling. It developed a program focused on a green colored “designer” water bottle made of the recycled material and labeled with a positive environmental message.
The bottle was a centerpiece of a “Get Green!” promotion targeted at fourth and fifth grade students and their parents. Research showed that 8–12 year olds are “highly savvy” environmental consumers and a demographic most likely to “move to action” through a promotional appeal.
“Get Green!” included community recycling days, school-level RPET collection activities, an in-school environmental stewardship teaching module, and a “Get Green” day in the spring (co-sponsored by local media, a local park district, and retail partners).
The program received national coverage in both mass and trade media, plus recognition from the State of Ohio’s Department of Natural Resources and several plastics industry groups.
